Ferrofol
Ferrofol.
Description:
The drug Ferrofol contains maltodextrin (partially hydrolyzed starch) and an inorganic iron (III) compound. In the preparation Ferrofol, trivalent iron is a component of a complex organic compound. Iron takes part in the process of hemoglobin formation. Like other iron preparations, Ferrofol does not affect erythropoiesis and is ineffective in anemia that is not caused by iron deficiency. The structure of the drug is similar to the natural compound of iron — feritin. The iron that has been absorbed binds to ferritin and is stored in the liver. Later in the bone marrow, it is included in the composition of hemoglobin.
